Singer Wang Fang(王芳), who participated in a mission organized by the Chinese Communist Party to the "Donetsk Republic" (Russia's puppet government), recited "Katyusha" in the ruins of the Mariupol Drama Theater, caused anger and grief among Ukrainians and decent Chinese people.

The theater was destroyed by Russian airstrike on March 16, 2022. At least 300 civilians,  including children, who took refuge there, were killed. It is said that the bodies not recovered are still buried underground.
