The Florida law being used to charge middle school boys who generated likenesses of classmates is some hot garbage. What the fuck is "realistic" and how the hell is "identifiable" determined? According to the law, a sufficiently accurate hand drawn likeness could also be illegal. It will be interesting to see how this law holds up. https://image.nostr.build/1e6d1607a6e8031860468a459bff69f8102eb9c4357909c2c6c6231f99c9e5e1.jpg
(b) could easily be tested by showing random strangers the manipulated image and then ask them to pick the victim from amongst 50 normal photos (a) can be achieved by showing the manipulated image to 50 strangers and asking them if it's real or manipulated Sure, you might traumatize the witnesses.
Interesting how the prosecution needs to prove in #3 that the subject didn’t engage in sexual conduct. Seems tricky.
The church has ways.
Humanity is so fucked. I wonder if there’s any law against deepfake violent content. Probably A-OK to show little Johnny murdering a classmate but god forbid Jenny shows her tits. Oh, and it’s Florida, so Jenny’s parents have probably already let her get filler injections in her face and breast implants before the age of 16 anyway. JFC what a clown world.
do they have special rules for twins?
if bob draws a picture of his favorite time with his girlfriend alice and she is OK with that, but her twin is not
Those edge cases will getcha every time!
In a world where I am against state overreach but for a consensus driven approach to not allowing one group of people to abuse another group I'd say this is entering a pretty agreeable territory of "Lets not have teenagers creating sex videos of peers without their knowledge or consent."
The legal system is like a virgin on the night of her wedding to Singularity.
Yet again, I’m reminded of this recent piece from https://brownstone.org/articles/we-cant-ban-our-way-to-a-better-world/
