Oddbean new post about login | logout I feel I’ve just been taking Nostr for granted. Like it’ll be here when shit hits the fan but will I have a community when that happens? Will I only use this AFTER nothing else works? I appreciate all of you and cheering for a free and decentralized world.
I'm confident that regardless of what happens, there will always be a few faithful relay runners and devs around. 💪 I'm curious how well nostr will hold up though. I don't think the protocol or community has been tested yet against any real adversaries🤞
I applaud more engagement on nostr but when shit starts hitting the fan on the big platforms people will start looking for alternatives. There is some fragmentation as people may not understand some of the (technical and political) advantages of using nostr yet, but with more time nostr can mature and reach more people as well. Regardless, there's no need to choose at the moment and it's fine to use multiple platforms and give some more attention than others if you have more engagement there.
I had to just make a conscious decision to spend the little time I have on social media and do it here. I didn’t delete X but I haven’t posted in a month and I don’t miss it. It occurred to me after being here a bit that its not actively trying to kill my brain like X. 🍻🧡
