Look folks, it’s great that Laphonza Butler is going to be the next senator from California. It’s better than great, it’s fucking awesome.

But Butler is not LGBTQ. 

Butler is a lesbian. 

LGBT, LGBTQ, LGBTQIA, and so on, are words that describe groups, not individuals. 

I’m just… I am already fucking preemptively exhausted at this sound bite. Can we please, please, just not?
