I like this version of "restorative justice".  

"A teacher has written a letter warning that something much more serious will happen if schools don't go back to zero tolerance and abandon this twisted version of "restorative justice" the misappropriated from Indigenous peoples. If a boy disrespected the life bringer in my culture, he would be left with a flint and knife on an island for a year. If he survived, he could ask to be let back into the communtiy and the elders would most likely decide if he could return. THAT is restorative justice. He needs to be made to see that he is dependent on his community for his life, not that he's allowed to assert his will and lust for dominance over the life bringers."
