Released in 2019, Blush Blush is a free-to-play gay-themed dating sim. It is a sequel of sorts to Crush Crush which was about dating cute girls – which appealed primarily to straight men.

Last week, I reviewed Crush Crush and was stunned at how terrible it was. Seeing that Blush Blush existed, I wanted to see how the devs would do after switching genders.

After installing the game and launching it for the first time, I had a big realization. I feel like I’m unable to give a good review because this game isn’t meant for me. But I’ll do my best.

Regarding whether or not this is a good game, I still don’t know.

Look, as someone almost entirely attracted to femininity, I’m not oblivious to the fact that men can be handsome and appealing. I can obviously tell the difference between a young Tom Cruise and an old W.C. Fields.

Where my brain glitches is when these supposedly “hawt guys” morph into animals. I can’t handle dating a rabbit, never mind impressing one – even if the rabbit in question is a “hawt guy” who’s been cursed to look like a rabbit. I’ve never looked at a cartoon rabbit’s floppy ears and thought to myself, “There’s something about it…”

At this point, someone’s reading this and thinking, “Oh boy! The dating sim for me!”

Maybe? Based on my experience with Crush Crush, I’m not sure you will like this. With the other game, I felt it was a lot of work to impress girls that I didn’t care for. And I don’t know if you’ll care for these “hawt guys”.

As for the character models, I’m not sure if they’re good. They look like cartoons. But as for whether or not they’re appealing, I don’t know.

The voice acting seems all right.

If you want to give this a try, you’ll need a 1.6Ghz CPU, 2GB of RAM, and 400MB of space. Any graphics card will do, even integrated graphics. This game has native compatibility for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Steam Deck runs it fine.

Blush Blush is a PC exclusive, though there is a browser version of this game.

Sad Panda Studios made this game. They also made Crush Crush, a game I previously reviewed. And they made Hush Hush as well as Cabin Fever, both dating sims.

There’s lots of micro-transactions in Blush Blush. Too much, in fact. I feel it’s borderline predatory and probably a good reason not to play the game.

People on Steam seem to like the game though. It has an 87% positive rating. However, people who don’t like the game complain that there’s no gay sex. So there’s that.

I’m just going to be honest. I’d rather just forget about Blush Blush. I understand that it has its fanbase, but I’m not one of them. Oh, well. Not every game is meant for my enjoyment.

But I can tell you this: even if you’re a gay furry, I can’t recommend Blush Blush to you. Even if you think the hawt guys are really hawt, what’s not hawt are those predatory micro-transactions. This might be a free-to-play dating sim, but they really try to make you pay!

My advice: if you’re looking for a gay dating sim, get one that treats you with respect. This one’s not it.
