I sat down a couple of weeks ago to try and wrap my head around Nostr and I accidentally wrote a relay in the process. I was initially thinking about just making a drop in replacement for Kafka/RabbitMQ but it could probably be used for lots of other things as well (like an actual Nostr relay for one). Thanks to  nostr:npub180cvv07tjdrrgpa0j7j7tmnyl2yr6yr7l8j4s3evf6u64th6gkwsyjh6w6 and others for their excellent work, it wouldn't have been so easy without them.
