Do you have any recommendations for a couple of nice resorts? I’ve never been and was hoping to gather some thoughts on decent places to stay, things to do/see etc.
 Sure do.
Kids? Just you?
Beach? Volcano hike?
I think four of us, the kicker is that one of us is in a wheelchair. Hoping for some accessible accommodations.
3rd world is always going to be challenging with wheelchair access but Id really recommend going to the Volcano lake near Santa Ana. It was the hallmark of my trip.
Its like 2 hours NW of the Airport. You can stay there and find lots to do for several days.
Look on travel sites and see the pictures. Wake up with a volcano outside your window and a lake. —Book early to get the rooms with views.—
Amazing.

Other highlights were
El Tunco - beach
The cathedral in San Salvador.
