First out the gate-I trust Bobby, Elon, Vivek and Gabbard. I do not take Trump at face value. The fact that he surrounded himself with people I believe have legitimate integrity makes me much happier and all of them are who I voted for, not Trump himself.
Let's not forget this is the man who got on a long string of thought to release JFK files, MLK Jr, Ross Ulbricht, then in the same 30 seconds starts word salading about being apprehensive to release the Epstein files. He is far from perfect but his entourage is incredible in my view.
I don't buy that any of them would concede to a CBDC, especially since some of not all of them grok Bitcoin. So I'm gonna say false.
The borders I wouldn't mind being watched. Obviously that's a stepping stone for a techno-autocracy but given that CCTV is everywhere already, at last for the sake of the border, there's a decent case to be made that it's about the only practicable means to solve the issue of violent actors coming across the border. Like taxes, there's a legitimate reason for it, but it always comes with the risk of corruption. For the moment, watching the border with technology is just obvious.
I very seriously doubt they don't appreciate the risks of digital ID and social credit scores and I especially doubt it will take off. Too much social opposition, it's just not likely. At least not with this group.
This seems very clear to be more of a risk in the further future than anything in the next 4 years, though I'm not saying it won't happen at all. My bet is this is just a serious misapplication of malevolence.
If, God forbid, Harry Balls would have actually won, I'd be bracing for all of this literally right now.
