If you have trouble remembering your 9 times tables, use your fingers.

9x1 Put down your first finger.  There are no fingers to the left (tens)  and 9 (ones) to the right, so the answer is 9.
9x2 Put down your 2nd finger.  There is one finger to the left (tens) and 8(ones) to the right. 1-8 is 18
