 I guess if talking about Bitcoin somehow helped Tron?
I'm seeing this as "unethical grifter gives you money to talk about grift, you take the money, and don't talk about the grift, and instead short the grift and go long on Bitcoin"... Not sure how it helps the grifter, unless the event overall was deemed a success and as a result gave Tron more credibility despite the successful talk about Bitcoin?

 I don't get paid to speak at conferences. 

I do request travel reimbursement from for-profit conferences, but not from academic conferences.
