It’s because elections (/party politics) are a joke. Their only goal is to get more people who would vote for them to actually vote, particularly in swing states. Doing interviews with the other side means showing proof of work to defend your purported stances. Those stances are formulated within a partisan echo chamber and fueled by algorithms on centralized platforms. To subject yourself to a reasonably savvy interviewer on “the other side” is to have the absurdity of your hollow campaign promises revealed and bring cast doubt on your own would-be voters as those interviews will be viewed by a much wider audience for being out of the ordinary I’m just gonna stack sats on election day.
