well, concurrently there has been a KP5-7 geomagnetic storm hit in the last 12 hours as well, during the time at which the earth was facing in the direction of the strike of the CME that caused that storm by all measures it wasn't a huge burp from the sun but was a string of three of them all coming at once and they traveled slower than all models predicted, meaning they are probably going to steadily push energy into the upper atmosphere and right now that part of the sky is right there
