This is the best question and I appreciate your honesty.

How big is Jesus/God in your mind? 

If he is a caricature, small, timid, powerless then I would also feel nothing. 

I think it starts with seeing God as he is. Creator, beginning and end, and most of all ... interested in knowing you.
