Work policies (the algo) can change, or your boss can fire you (deplatformed). Always a risk of losing your income, no matter the source. My wife experienced that earlier this year when her company abruptly let her go and our family had to make some major adjustments during her transition to something else. For people who rely heavily on digital platforms for their income, I can understand their reluctance to make the shift to a new paradigm unless they absolutely have to.
