Will stepping away from damus is like a parent releasing a child into the world to fend for itself. 

If devs/ users want it to survive, they need to adopt this baby.

I don't believe open source means spend your life's energy on one thing. Projects must be released and let out of the house so they can grow up and find their place in the world, much like us humans.
