Have Salvadorans heard of @0xchat? https://i.nostr.build/KQKjh6B1YHspIEQb.jpg
I don’t know if they have or haven’t. But I’m not impressed with 0xChat. Anytime I message via it, people on the other end usually aren’t able to see the message and therefore the conversation is truncated. Damus (iOS) and Primal have given me the most reliable conversations thus far. I keep hearing about SimpleX (I think that’s what it is called) I might give that a try. But for now, conversations are too important to me to not have a reliable client to facilitate them What has been your experience with 0xChat?
People on the other end will only see your message if they are using a client that supports nip-11 DMs and have set up inbox relays. This problem is solved by getting everyone to start using @0xchat.
By continuing to use nip-04 DMs, everyone will keep leaking metadata and some people might not even know it. This can be really bad for some people.
I’ve seen someone zap an anonymous DM which is pointless. Anyone can figure out who sent the zap cause you can clearly see who’s talking to each other in the DM. Anon zapping a public note is more private than sending an anon zap on a nip-04 DM.
Only clients such as Amethyst, Coracle, Nostrmo, etc., that support NIP-17 DMs, can receive messages sent from 0xChat. Also we recommend using NIP-17 DMs instead of NIP-04 DMs, as NIP-17 helps hide your metadata, enhancing your privacy.
