The Government of Kenya gets it!

The Governments of Ethiopia, Paraguay, El Salvador and other governments are getting it too. Kudos to them all! So why haven't Canada's federal, provincial and municipal govts gotten it yet?

Across #Canada, abundant energy sources (hydro, wind, escaped methane, flared gas) are going unused. We are squandering the opportunity to increase renewable energy, stabilize grids, and boost our economy.

By not harnessing and mitigating escaped methane (eg, landfills) and flared gas (eg, oil fields) we are also squandering our chance to take more immediate and meaningful #climateaction.

The missing ingredient for all of this is an energy demand source that can:

a. purchase energy and monetize generation

b. turn on/off, on-demand (intermittent demand)

c. locate anywhere

The thing is, for the first time in history we have this ingredient! #Bitcoin data centres (often referred to as mining centres) meet all of the requirements.

That's why governments and partners around the world are turning to #Bitcoin data/mining centres as triple bottom line solutions: fix energy, tackle climate change, boost the economy.

Canada has abundant space and natural resources. We can leverage these in service of our climate action goals AND create new jobs, bolster our energy grids, and boost our economy.

Harnessing the unprecedented triple bottom line benefits of #Bitcoin data/mining centres is a conversation that must be prioritized by all levels of government in Canada.

The additional benefit of harnessing #Bitcoin data/mining centres for Canada is that this also contributes to a global network that is advancing financial inclusion, human rights, and climate action globally.
