How do you sharpen it now? You want to file every tooth the same and bring down every raker that same. Use the same strokes on every tooth. Keep the same angle 📐 following the guide on the tooth. Clean out the gullet as well. If you don’t evenly sharpen you will feel it pull sporadically and take much more force to cut. A sharp chain is a safe one. If you need to slap your chainsaw on a vice grip to keep the bar straight while you sharpen do so.
1. I’d always start with the worst tooth, mark it with a sharpie or at least remember where it falls on the chain. Get that tooth sharp again following the guided angle and count how many strokes it takes. In the middle of that take down the gullet if necessary.
2. Take down the other teeth roughly the same amount on the same side and keep that same pressure and angle.
3. Switch sides and do those teeth now.
4. Take down the rakers if needed.
Final step. If your saw isn’t throwing beautiful big wood chips then consider suicidal thoughts an answer 🫡
Jk just go fkn sharpen it right. There are some neat little hand held tools you can look into as well to guide you on the go. I’ll link them.
