So I got synapse setup on nostr:nprofile1qqs9df4h2deu3aae83fmet5xmrlm4w5l9gdnsy3q2n7dklem7ezmwfcpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq5xamn8ghj7dnvv45xs7tywde8g6rpvakkjuekw46nvar4vdhxgan6wumkxatzwpckk6rk0puhjdm2da5k7ce5x4kkkumjx3jkzepwdahxjmmwqyt8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnwdaehgu3wd9hxvmckqw0xz, but have no one to talk to... What are the use cases y'all use it for? Seems like a significant effort to get folks on boarded, but I'm definitely interested since nostr comms aren't encrypted and signal is centralized and telegram is a dumpster fire.

I’m down to chat though not set up yet
Synapse over Tor is pretty poor and can only federate with other Tor instances.

Clearnet support will make Synapse much more intriguing.
Do you have a guide on federation from a high level for a noob? Is my understanding correct that it makes your identity valid across multiple home servers?
If you choose to federate your server (it is a setting in Config), then you will be able to join rooms on other [Tor] servers, and [Tor] users will be able to join rooms on your server, if it's a public room or you invite them, that is.

This link seemed useful, but there is a ton of stuff online explaining what federation means and how it works: https://teknikaldomain.me/post/matrix-decentralized-federated-chat/
But when? Kinda been getting teased with clearnet for 2 years now
