if you are walking down the street trying to find a place to eat with a friend, then you see a food not bombs (free vegan meals in the park served by punks) in the park and a chic-fil-a across the street, a lot of people will choose the chic-fil-a every single time. We can try to convince them around things like health, ethics, community, etc, but it's just outside of the experience they know. Advocating for fundamentally changing food not bombs into a fast food joint isn't going to solve the problem. Fighting to reform the chic-fil-a into a better establishment is just silly.

Some people are going to choose the chic-fil-a, and that's OK for now. My longer term goal is to work on creating situations where the food not bombs might be something they become more comfortable with over time.
