WTO, ITC commence implementation of fund for women exporters

The WTO and ITC launched the Women Exporters in the Digital Economy (WEIDE) Fund on September 12, 2024, to support women in international trade and digital economy; WTO DG Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and ITC Executive Director Pamela Coke-Hamilton signed the first grant agreement with the UAE government; The UAE contributed US$ 5 million to kickstart the fund; The WEIDE Fund aims to empower women-led micro and small enterprises with grants up to US$ 30,000 and technical assistance; The goal is to raise US$ 50 million, with an initial target of US$ 25 million; The fund will select four business support organizations in developing countries to assist women entrepreneurs.
