The departures from the books are so huge (though sometimes interesting) that I don’t feel as if I’m even watching WoT. The casting is pretty great, the acting’s pretty great, the production values are high, but the writing is so-so and the pacing is ugh. Most fans of the book will admit that the middle books drag, but that’s mostly because there are so many characters in so many places. Which the TV series decided to emulate.
