This note hints at a deep disconnect between our information systems & the physical reality they're meant to represent.

It's why unconstraining dollars from gold (or anything else) causes civil unrest.

It's why erasing history on the internet is common while erasing history in the physical realm is nearly impossible.

There are some places where unconstrained imagination is fine to exercise.  The foundations of our communication and cooperation mechanisms across society, the internet & economics, are not such places.  We need to start re-tethering these things to our physical realm, and get our heads out of the clouds!
