The 'reputable sources' are going to have to be authorised by experts too.
But the experts are going to have to be authenticated by professionals. 
And the professionals are going to have to be paid to analyse the footage with their tools. 
But the tools are going to be made by the nerds. 
Then we need to trust the nerds.
