 In the first book of Plato's Republic, Socrates asks Cephalus what the best part of being rich is. Cephalus responds:

"Not cheating someone even unintentionally, not lying to him, not owing a sacrifice to some god or money to a person... the possession of wealth makes no small contribution to this." (331b, Reeve translation).

For the current generation of billionaires, the best part of being rich is that it allows you to lie, cheat and steal with impunity.
