 I wonder, what is the real average cost of running fediverse instance @Alex Gleason ? Are there any 'purist' instance which running freely (covered by donation or owner's own fund) pure by instance owner?

 Well it seems not far different than nostr relays. Unless, relay operators choose to host on really expensive providers 😅
