Perplexity, an AI search engine, has launched a live tracker and chatbot information hub for the 2024 US general election. The platform will provide updates on presidential, senate, and house races at both state and national levels using data from The Associated Press and Democracy Works. While other AI assistants, such as OpenAI's ChatGPT Search, direct users to official sources, Perplexity is embracing the role of providing election information.

However, concerns about accuracy remain. A recent report found that multiple AI chatbots, including those from OpenAI, provided inaccurate information in response to voting-related questions. Additionally, a study by the Center for Democracy and Technology discovered that five AI chatbots gave incorrect answers to over one-third of election-related questions.
