American's effectively own the right to FLCL, and every time they try to make another one, it's soulless trash

Maybe the first one was never really all that good. Any feelings I have for it is just the memories of sneaking into the living room with my brother to watch Adult Swim while our parents slept. But if felt like there was some level of soul to the original that can't be recaptured, and I don't think that's an accident.
