what i don't understand is this:

i read the qur'an twice through, a credible, relatively authoritative side by side arabic/english version lent to me by a student of islamic literature (in prison, btw)

one of the first things that i bumped into that impressed me as i was reading it was the admonition to followers to migrate if conditions in their current location are adverse to their interests

i don't remember which suraah it appears in, but i'm very confident you will find that it is early in the book

why are they standing their ground in Gaza? why didn't they just go somewhere safer like iran or syria or even turkey?

seems like a very constructed, artificial situation to me

i can only speculate that it is due to other canonical texts in their particular sect of islam, some specific hadiths that contradict the qur'an's advice to gtfo if you are in a pit of snakes

to be honest, i feel the same way about ukrainians, what is the logic of those who are not already out in safer places than a war zone exactly?

it's not like ukraine's east hasn't been a warzone since at least 2014, or that gaza has been anything but a warzone since at least the initial occupation in 1948 that was decreed by the allies

what is in their minds? can anyone explain this to me?
