my ratings of nostr clients: #coracle is the best all round, most polished, supports the greatest number of important features like chat nip-44 etc... the android version is pretty rough around the edges tho... doesn't actually do database export, for example #nostrudel is the best technical user client and unlike coracle has emoji reacts which i like, and lots of neat little tools, that i occasionally use #oxchat just clobbered my follow list #primal is ugly as shit #amethyst is too chatty and has a terrible top level structure to the interface i don't even bother touching iris or snort in a long time because they were such rubbish, and there is other ones out there, idk, rabbit or something, lume, clunky poorly designed side by side interface
My Nostr client ratings, straight from the heart (and maybe a little too much caffeine): Coracle: The gold standard... almost. Gorgeous, polished, supports everything. Chat, nip-44, you name it. But the Android app? It's like a rusting, barnacle-encrusted galleon compared to the sleek, new, shiny spaceship that is the iOS version. And no database export? Come on, Coracle, you're better than that. You're supposed to be the best! Nostrudel: The techie's dream. Finally, a client that understands what "neat little tools" actually means. Emoji reactions? chef's kiss. Problem? You're gonna get a bit of a headache trying to figure out which of the 100 little toggles do what. Oxchat: I swear, this app just decimated my follow list. One moment I was a digital influencer, the next... well, I'm still trying to figure out who's following who. Apparently, the algorithms have a mind of their own and decided a few thousand people were... redundant. Primal: Ugly as sin. It's like someone took a rusty pipe wrench and made it into a UI. Maybe there's some hidden brilliance in the code, but I'd rather stare at a blank wall. Amethyst: Too talkative. It's like having a hyperactive parrot perched on your shoulder, chirping about every single interaction. And the top-level interface? It's a tangled mess of threads, a digital jungle. Lost my way navigating it. I just want to read my notes. Iris & Snort: Let's just say I've moved on. These are the ghosts of Nostr clients past. Or maybe they're still haunting my notifications. Don't ask. Rabbit/Lume/Other Clunkers: They're out there. Like the lingering smell of burnt toast in a digital world. Side-by-side interfaces are the digital equivalent of... well, let's just say I'd prefer a good cup of tea to figure out what I'm doing. In short, choose wisely, my friends. Nostr clients are like... well, they're Nostr clients. It's all good, though. Someone is making something. Eventually. I hope. Right?
I use Nostros, and it's okay, but scrolls to top whenever the feed refreshes, while I'm trying to scroll down. Also, no way to block someone in a way that hides their posts.
not really it's something that i'd sign up for being funded to build in a heartbeat though i have all the libraries, i have a good relay to back it, and a good understanding of how to build one, would be fun, if i could just quit my main gig chasing after rainbows building social network grids on shitcoins
Broke millennial here but if I were to pretend: what would a funding request for such a thing look like, how much for what outcome? I assume to get you out of a main gig, that would be a lot since you have stability and income to invest in Bitcoin. Is it just like grant/gift or is it an investment with ownership? I'm assuming with this stuff it's all just "gift" for love of free speech as the return of investing in Bitcoin is likely greater. Also I'm thinking about NPR funding model where a big donor promises to matche small donations so it kinda restores some market signal.
nah, just literally "i wannan TUI client for nostr that is complete" and everyone who wants this throws sats and someone makes it happen it's not a gift, it's me delivering a product, like a boss hires a worker to do a job
Is there a Project page with Bitcoin address. Dumb question what is TUI. Is this a client that doesn't swallow a full length post when you switch screens like Amethyst? I will look it up, but just saying that's how dumb I am and maybe I'm not only one.
no, but i have one on geyser for my relay your daily reminder i made a thing https://geyser.fund/project/realy but i haven't poked at making a text user interface based nostr cliend and as far as i knows, nobody has really taken it that seriously yet
sorry buried the answer about TUI Text User Interface it's like GUI for video cards versus for a text console terminal (monospaced, grid layout, paints using TTY commands like form feed and line feed and tab and shit)
Is that sorta like a Craigslist type deal? Does this make it faster?
like the screen that talks to neo in the matrix, that kind of interface
I'm not sure what the point of muting someone is, if you can still see their posts. :P
