Voting does not change anything for a variety of reasons. The two party political structure, the strength of incumbents, the advantage of a well funded campaign, and the darker reality of mafia style threats are all much more influential factors than your vote is.

Not to mention that the entire “process” of deciding temporary rulers through majority rule is a flawed concept which incentivizes short term thinking.
